Conveyancing Fraud
Clime Associates has settled a claim against two firms of solicitors for a client who was the subject of a conveyancing fraud. Our client was the buyer of a property. After the sale had gone through, it turned out that the sellers were fraudsters, who only pretended to own the property. Our client had sent completion monies to the sellers, which were quickly transferred abroad never to be seen again. Clime Associates successfully brought a claim against both the buyer’s and seller’s solicitors. The claim was settled at mediation for a high 6 figure sum.
Litigation Costs gone awry
Clime Associates has settled a claim against a firm of solicitors for a client who became embroiled in a 3 year long arbitration with no hope of success. Our client was the defendant being pursued by former business associates over an investment that went wrong. In legal terms our client was the trustee of his associates’ monies, and was obliged to return it to them. Unfortunately, our client’s solicitors failed to advise him as such, or at all on the merits of his claim. After three years, and hundreds of thousands of pounds in legal costs, our client lost the arbitration. Clime Associates successfully brought a claim against the former solicitors, achieving a good six figure settlement.
